Welcome to Snark Industries, the Marvel podcast with one simple, deeply unreasonable goal: to experience the entire Marvel Universe in the order the stories actually take place and catalog every last bit of it. Jon and Remy introduce themselves, break down what the show is, where it came from, and why two lifelong Marvel fans decided this was a perfectly reasonable thing to do with their time. Consider this your invitation to come along for the ride.

Hello and welcome fellow Marvel fans to the Snark

Industries podcast. I'm John. And I'm Remy. And

we invite you to join us as we work our way through

every Marvel TV show, movie, and crossover. Meaning

if there's a Marvel character on screen, it's

fair game. All categorized in the temporal order

of their setting. By the time we're done, we'll

have built a complete start to finish timeline

of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. To accomplish

this goal and to have a bit of fun along the

way, each episode will be split into two parts.

The watch party and the deep dive. Most importantly,

we want to thank each and every one of you for

joining us on this incredible journey. We're

not affiliated with Marvel in any way, shape,

or form. We're just fans who are passionate about

these stories and these characters and wish to

share them with everyone in a new and exciting

way. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy this episode

of Snark Industries. Hello, ladies and gentlemen,

and welcome to the Snark Industries podcast,

the Marvel podcast and companion website built

around one simple, deeply unreasonable goal to

experience the entire Marvel Universe in the

order the stories actually take place and catalog

it. Simple, right? I'm Remy. And I'm John. And

that was very professional sounding. Hey, thank

you. So that basically sums up what this show

is. And yeah, man, I'm so far having a blast

with it. Absolutely. Yeah. I think at the time

that we're introducing this to you on a session

zero basis, I think we've got 12 episodes laid

down. Yeah. We've done a few of these already

laid down and it's really been an exciting project

and one that I'm happy to be a part of, even

if no one ever listens to this, but me and you,

you know? Yeah. I mean. Oh, no, I get to wake

up at 530 in the morning and watch Marvel shows

with my best friend. Hey, you know, there's there

there are worse ways to live life, I tell you.

Right. Could be worse. But yeah, definitely,

you know, just kind of break this thing down

here before we get into the nuts and bolts of

it with all of you through the timeline. Just

to have this here to go episode by episode, movie

by movie, put them all in order. Things that

tie together, things that don't tie together,

things that we want to make try to tie together

that wasn't intended that way. And I think that

they can, because ultimately, at the end of the

day, all of this is coming from the same source

material, even if some liberties were taken.

But the thing is, is with comic books. And comic

stories, you know, whether they end up on the

screen or, you know, whatever. There's so many

different writers. There's so many different

arcs. There's so many different takes on these

characters. And I think that's a good thing.

I think it's a healthy thing for how these things

come to pass is that you have a baseline, but

ultimately there's a lot of nuance to not only

the stories, but what these characters can do,

their abilities. you know, the tie -ins and where

they go and the relationships that form and dissolve

and things as time goes on and different people

touches them. I think that it's interesting.

And I'm sure that there's something similar to

this kind of done with specific runs and comic

book stories and things like that. But, you know,

to take all of the big screen TV, movie, et cetera,

and to do it, I think it's pretty unique. And

I think that's something that's worth having.

You know, I mean, just as a reference, you know,

for lack of a better way, it is just a look at,

you know, to take a take a fly over and look

at all of these things as a whole and say, wow,

this is pretty amazing. Absolutely, man. This

thing this thing exists basically because we

wanted as fans for it to exist. That's it. Because,

you know, if you check out the website, honestly,

super proud of it. It's coming along great. And.

By the time we make our way in 100 episodes,

200 episodes, 1 ,000 episodes, this website is

going to be the definitive source of Marvel Universe,

cinematic Marvel Universe information. And it's

fun. It's fun to even though I've built it and

I've spent so much time on it, I still go through

it. I'm like, this is cool. We as fans are here

because we want to see this thing coming into

existence. Absolutely. And speaking of fans,

what's your nerd cred? I mean, where'd you start?

Why Marvel? So for me, and it's funny, you know,

and I'm going to blaspheme just a little bit

here because I'm not an exclusively Marvel reader

and enjoyer. I enjoy a lot of different things,

honestly. Specifically, though, and it's funny,

and we'll see this juxtaposition here in just

a few moments when you go down yours, but I didn't

start in the books. I didn't really have access

to them when I was coming up and everything.

My biggest thing is when I started really getting

into the things that I enjoyed, the things that,

you know, the sort of forming of my own personality

and entertainment venues. I didn't have a whole

lot of say in my house growing up as to what

was on the TV, with one exception, and that exception

was Saturday morning. And so having those Saturday

morning cartoons and we're talking the, you know,

the original X -Men animated series, we're talking

Spider -Man and several others. Those two are

the ones that really stood out to me the most.

Oh, true classics. Yeah. Yeah. You know, and

even to a point now we've got X -Men 97 as a,

as a callback to that. I mean, that's just such

a great, anyway, we'll get there too, but that's,

that's kind of where I started. you know, in

terms of comic book heroes in general, even though

it wasn't the books, it was on the screen. And

so, you know, every Saturday morning, that's

what I was doing. You couldn't find me anywhere

else. And I enjoyed it and everything else. And

I had a very, we'll call it strict upbringing.

So there was a lot of things that kind of weren't

allowed or thought that were to be kind of a

waste. So I didn't really get into actual reading

the books until I was in college and I could

buy my own books like a man. Wow. Like a man.

Yeah. And what I did, I went and I bought some,

went online and found things. And even the local

libraries, I would go around and they've got,

believe it or not, a lot of just straight comic

issues in there that you can go check out. I

didn't know that. Interesting. Yeah. So to go

in there and to find those things and to start

reading, and I kind of tore through a lot of

runs. And I know for a fact that not nearly the

amount. uh of actual books that you have um and

it's funny and i think it's i think it's a good

thing and a strong thing for what we're doing

here as we're tying this not only to the to the

timeline itself with the screen but also comic

book tie -ins when we do our deep dives. Yeah,

absolutely. I think it's a good thing that we

have, do I want to say experts? Yeah, I'm going

to, I'm going to, I'm going to toot my own horn

here and say experts in the respective fields.

Like you have a lot of in -depth knowledge of

the books themselves. And of course the, you

know, the shows and movies as well, but mine

is more, more screen related. And, you know,

I think that's a good thing bringing here is

we have. Both of those sort of viewpoints to

be able to make this really a complete saga.

Yeah. Yeah, I completely agree. And to that point,

you are more familiar with the shows and the

movies and things of that nature because you

rewatch them regularly. That's true. I, on the

other hand, I'll watch something and it's like

a good five year period where my wife doesn't

want to watch it again. So unless I'm watching

it on my own, I don't get to see it again until.

That time comes around where I can convince her

that, yes, you want to watch Guardians of the

Galaxy again. It's funny. It's interesting because

it's really a double a double entendre, so to

speak, with that is that because I do rewatch

a lot of the shows and movies. And part of it

is I like to I'm a very background noise oriented

person. So if I'm sitting here doing work or

if I'm, you know, whatever, I like to throw something

on the background. A lot of times I'll just throw

a show on. And even if I'm not actively staring

at it, watching it, it's on. I'm hearing it.

I'm looking at the cool scenes that I like. And

as well as that, my children are at the age right

now where they're able to start consuming these

shows and movies. So I'm watching them with them

as well. And it's their first time seeing everything.

So it's been really exciting. Oh, that's so much

fun. Yeah, it's been really exciting to be able

to do that and see. But yeah, I mean, you know,

to your point, that even reinforces what I was

just saying is that. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah,

just refreshing myself regularly. And then obviously

we're going to refresh ourselves on all of these.

And even I think for both of us see a lot of

new content. I've already seen a couple of things

that we've done even thus far that I've never

watched before. So and many, many more to come.

So, oh, yeah, absolutely. Before we get too far

off topic, though, why don't you why don't you

drop down and let's let's give you your your

side of the stories for terms of nerd cred and

why my nerd cred brings you here. Yeah. So my

mom had a really difficult time getting me to

read. My sister was a voracious reader. She would

devour books like they were going out of style.

I always kind of tried to step out from the shadow

of my sister. She was a very high achiever. So

I didn't want to read, period. I just shut it

down completely. Seven or so years old, I walk

into a gas station, Exxon, in a little Southern

California town, and there's a silver -foiled...

night watch comic which is if you don't know

night watch he is a spider -man adjacent hero

never really went anywhere had a small run but

really cool design beautiful cover and i was

i want this this book i want to see what it is

i want to read it i must have read that thing

a thousand times and from that point forward

anytime there was a comic book i was i was diving

into i was eating i was devouring it became more

marvel focused probably because my mom saw the

violence difference in the two and I know for

a fact that she wasn't a fan of the Batman movie

with Michael Keaton so Marvel Comics were more

readily provided but I also prefer them because

they're more colorful because they're louder

because I feel like the the characters are more

human you'll find out through the run of this

I'm sure that I'm not a Batman fan I don't like

Batman himself but I do like all the characters

that surround him. So it's not to say that I'm

not DC at all. Love some Green Lantern. Love

some Flash. Although some of the concepts like

the cosmic treadmills is the stupidest thing

in the world. But we'll move on from that. Long

story short is I just love comic books. Yes,

I heavily, heavily lean toward Marvel. But I'm

very, very familiar with most of DC comics and

characters as well. And I just love comics. I

just love the things that they can teach us.

I love the things that they can teach kids. My

entire left arm and left side of my body is a

Marvel tattoo. I've got Captain America. I've

got Gambit. I've got Deadpool, Nightcrawler,

Iron Man, Spider -Man. I mean, everyone that's

taught me a lesson in my past growing up is tattooed

on my body. It's just it's I take this silliness

very seriously. It's a good way to make for sure.

For sure. Yeah. And so I think here before we

before we divulge too much, this is who we are.

This is why we're here. This is what our story

is about. I did want to take a minute just to

say. For those that are listening to, we appreciate

you being here. 100%. And wanted to apologize

in advance for any continuity errors, things

like that, that we may have going through doing

this. And Remy did most of the work here. And

when I say most of, I mean all of the work in

getting these things in Temporal War was a tremendous

undertaking. And of course. Fans, not experts.

Yeah, right. Yeah, no, I didn't get my PhD in

superheroes, although that would be pretty cool.

Oh, man, I wish. Yeah, yeah. What a rad way to

live. But inevitably, there will be some errors

here, even with the breakdown that we already

have. But also, I mean, Marvel's going to continue

to release stuff. And there will come a time

when they release something that temporally falls

in where we've already been. And we'll address

that and we'll touch on that in the shows and

the and the website itself when that happens.

But that is something that is an inevitability

here as we continue going forward, as well as,

you know, the the the shows and the movies themselves.

As we're doing our watch parties, we're doing

our deep dives. We try to do our due diligence

on research and everything else. But once again,

inevitably, I'm sure one or both of us will say

some things that are out of line and out of pocket.

That said, we apologize. We're fans, not experts.

And we're going to try to do our best to make

this as complete and correct as possible. But

if those things happen, by all means, join up.

Give us a shout. Join our Discord. Say, hey,

this is this. We're happy to hear from you. We're

not taking any offense to any of that. And I

will make those corrections. Yeah, absolutely.

We want this, as I said at the end, once all

is said and done. How many episodes total in

the queue? Just just over twenty seven hundred.

Twenty seven hundred. So, I mean, and that's

today. And obviously they're going to keep making

content. I mean, there's going to be hundreds

of thousands of these by the time things are

all said and done. But we want it to be a correct

and definitive guide to all things Marvel on

the screen. So bear with us. Happy to have you

with us. And we're happy to have you here. Well,

we'll see you on the on the other side, folks.

We we thank you for being here and cannot wait

to journey through this with you. This is this

is going to be a blast. Thank you for joining
